Air core coil is one kind of coil, the coil in the circuit usually refers to the inductor coil, its working principle is electromagnetic induction. Air core coils have the advantages of simple structure, high inductance accuracy, small distribution capacitance, high self-harmonic frequency, small temperature coefficient, good stability, strong anti-interference ability and so on, it is a kind of inductor that can be applied to high frequency. Empty core coils can usually be used as current transformers with wide bandwidth, small size and light weight, which are convenient for digital measurement and microcomputer protection, and are widely used in the fields of TV technology, audio technology, communication transceiver, power supply filter, VCD radio head, antenna amplifier, tape recorder, antenna microphone and so on.
The main parameters of air core coil:
1, inductance. The inductance L is an inherent characteristic of the coil itself, independent of the current. Inductance is generally labeled with a specific name.
2, Inductive resistance. The resistance of an inductor coil to an alternating current is called the inductive resistance XL and is measured in ohms.
3, Quality factor. The quality factor Q is a physical quantity that indicates the quality of the coil. Q is the ratio of the inductive resistance XL to its equivalent resistance, i.e., Q = XL/R. The higher the Q value of the coil, the smaller the losses in the loop. Q value of the coil with the DC resistance of the wire, the dielectric loss of the skeleton, shielding or core loss caused by the high-frequency skin effect and other factors related to the coil's q value is usually tens to hundreds.
4, distributed capacitance. The capacitance between the coil turns, between the coil and the base plate and between the coil and the shield is called the distribution capacitance. The existence of distributed capacitance makes the Q value of the coil lower and the stability worse, so the smaller the distributed capacitance of the coil, the better.
Empty core coil function:
1, hollow core coil blocking current. The self-induced electromotive force in a hollow-core coil always resists the change of current in the coil. Hollow core coils obstruct the AC current. The magnitude of the obstruction is called inductive reactance xl in ohms, which is related to the inductance l and the frequency f of the alternating current as xl=2πfl.
2, tuning and frequency selection. lc tuned circuits can be formed by connecting hollow coils and capacitors in parallel, i.e., if the circuit's intrinsic oscillating frequency f0 is equal to the frequency F of the non-AC signal, the inductive reactance and capacitive reactance of the circuit are also equal, so the electromagnetic energy is oscillating back and forth in the inductance and capacitance, which is the resonant phenomenon of lc circuits. When the inductive reactance and capacitive reactance of the resonant circuit are equal in size and opposite in direction, the inductive reactance of the total circuit current is smaller, and the power flow (referring to the AC signal with f=“f0”) lc resonant circuit has a frequency selection function, which can select a certain frequency f of the AC signal.
Hollow Core Coil Usage: Hollow core coils are mainly used in inductive reception, focusing, magnetic heads, high current coils, low voltage appliances, industrial control, household appliances, automotive electronics, wireless transceivers, electronic navigators, power conditioners, amplifiers, power supplies and filters.
